A research document on Indigenous Knowledge, Systems and Practices (IKSP) paved the way for a social enterprise that produces this exotic jam made from Katmon (Dillenia philippinensis) and Libas (Spondias pinnata (Linn. f.) Kurz), wild fruits that grow abundantly in the marshland of Agusan del Sur.
The Indigenous People- Local Researchers of the Agusan Marsh Sectoral Association (IP- LORAMSECA), the manufacturer of this jam, advocates environment protection: katmon and libas plants are left to grow and bear fruit instead of being cut down as material for making wooden furniture and kitchenware.
The fruits are then picked and made into jam – with other product lines like flavored cookies, candies and the like still being considered and tested.
Purchase of these products provide a sustainable livelihood for the Manobo community in Loreto, Agusan del Sur.
